We're all going on a Summer Holiday

Witherdens Hall Organic Spa Retreat is surrounded by miles of stunning coast line

The sun is shining here at Witherdens Hall Organic Spa Retreat and with the summer holidays fast approaching, it’s not too late to book a wonderful family holiday with us. There are great days out just on our doorstep as well as miles of stunning coastline and blue flag, family friendly beaches. There really is something for everyone.

In order to show you just what we mean, we've just been sitting by the pool compiling a list of our top five, family friendly days out just for you. (It's a hard job, but someone has to do it), and here they are!

The Isle of Thanet: Ramsgate, Margate and Broadstairs

Ramsgate is full of exciting places to visit, including the War Time Tunnels, a stunning harbour, Escape Room and the amazing 1940’s Home Front Tea Room. Did you know that Vincent Van Gogh lived and worked in Ramsgate for a time and Queen Victoria stayed for 6 months to recover from illness. Look out for the blue plaques.

Margate is one of the most popular destinations in East Kent due to its fabulous local attractions, including The Turner Contemporary art gallery with the Antony Gormley sculpture "Another Time" in the sea just outside, Dreamland, a retro, vintage fairground, The Shell Grotto and a vast sandy beach. It's a taste of a traditional seaside holiday.

Broadstairs has some fabulous beaches, including Viking Bay and Joss Bay which have lots of amenities for families. There is also a charming seaside town harbour and a lively folk festival week from the 10th - 17th August. http://broadstairsfolkweek.org.uk

Wingham Wildlife Park:

A great family day out less than two miles away from Witherdens Hall, Wingham Wildlife Park has a whole array of animals from lions, tigers and crocodiles to tarantulas, penguins and chimpanzees. Not only that, but for all of those dinosaur fanatics, there is a real Jurassic Park, complete with life size moving dinosaurs!

Dover Castle

Dover Castle:

Visit Dover Castle and take a step back in time into the medieval, 12th Century world of Henry II, explore the castle and Keep. Then venture into the WW2 war time tunnels and discover what was going on inside the famous White Cliffs of Dover during the war.

Canterbury:

The historic city of Canterbury is absolutely packed full of things to do, from the shops, bars and restaurants to river tours, theatres and the breath-taking cathedral, everyone is catered for. If you are visiting the city with children, there are plenty of activities to keep them entertained at the Beaney Project, as well as museums, parks, The Canterbury Tales and the best fish and chip shop just next door!

There are also three park and ride routes in operation, so parking is easy. On the 7th July 2018 there will be a Medieval Pageant taking place in the city. For more information click here.

Boat on Deal Seafront

Deal:

Deal is a beautiful seaside town situated between Sandwich and St Margaret’s Bay, on the Kent coast. It has some interesting little shops and picture post card scenery, especially along Middle Street. It also has Deal Pier, which is lovely to stroll along on a warm summer’s day. There is a café at the end where you can get refreshments and look out over the sea.

If you like walks or cycle rides, you can venture all the way along Deal seafront on foot or by bicycle. Heading towards Walmer you will also find Deal Castle, Walmer paddling pool, which is free of charge, and further along you will discover Walmer Castle.

As you can see, there really is a lot for families to do here in East Kent and we still have some availability during the school holidays, if you would like to come and experience some or all of these places for yourself.

We are proud to say that our prices remain the same all year round, which means no price hikes during school holidays. Not only this, but upon your return to Witherdens Hall Organic Spa Retreat, tired parents can also book relaxing treatments with our many therapists, so that everyone gets to relax, unwind and have a fantastic holiday.

We would love to welcome you and your family to Witherdens Hall this summer.
