Should I keep bees?

Simon Reed, aka The Bee Man, will be running courses through the Autumn, Winter and Spring on the fundamentals of bee-keeping.

Should I Keep Bees?

In the light of significant reduction in bee colonies over the past 3 years, and the associated media coverage, many people are more aware of the significant role that bees play in our food chain.

In the UK we have seen losses of over 20% per annum and consequently many people are considering keeping honey bee colonies.

If you are one of those wondering about whether to establish a hive,  then this highly informative and practical half day introductory course is for you.

  • Current facts and information on bees in the UK and worldwide
  • Practical items plus costs which are often overlooked
  • Tips on equipment savings and 'must haves' vs 'must be seen to have'
  • How to engage with the UK bee-keeping infrastructure
  • Usage, sale and costings for honey and associated bee products – routes to markets – friends and otheroutlets – tips
